Our Story

How it all began

Jewels started in my 20s when I lived with a group of dear girlfriends in a character home on Crown Street. We loved getting dressed up — whether we were going out or staying in. Some people in our circle nicknamed our little group of friends ‘the Jewels of Crown.’ 

I’ve been into clothing and fashion for as long as I can remember and fell in love with thrifting as a kid while visiting charity shops in town and on road trips with my mom. By the time I was living on Crown Street, I had started collecting pieces too good to pass up, even if they weren’t my size. I started a closet for these outfits, and when it came to getting ready, my friends and I would sift through, changing looks until we found something that made us feel distinct and confident. This closet was the beginning of my shop. I still love to hunt for special pieces, both at home and in my (pre-Covid) travels through Canada, the USA, and Europe.
